Make Easy Pork Chops with Apples

Don't settle for another boring dinner. These easy pork chops have a slightly sweet and fruity taste and are made with minimal effort.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 pork chops
  • 2 Macintosh apples
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • salt and pepper
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Salt and pepper the pork chops to taste. Place chops in a 9x13 glass casserole dish.

  3. Step 3

Wash the apples, and cut lengthwise. Remove any seeds. Leave the apple skins on.

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle the top of each pork chop with ½ tablespoon sugar. Place half the apple (with skin) on top of each pork chop.

  5. Step 5

Bake for 20 minutes. Remove pork chops from oven. Take apple halves and place to the side. Flip the pork chops over to other side. Sprinkle ½ tablespoon sugar on pork chop side that is now facing up. Place each apple half back on top of pork chop.

  6. Step 6

Put back in over for another 20-25 minutes. Pork chops are done with juices run clear.

  7. Step 7

Remove pork chops from oven, and take the apples off the tops of each. Discard apples. If necessary, cut into chops to examine doneness.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with baked potato, rice, or applesauce.
  • Pork chops will have a wonderful cured taste.

on 2/26/2008 Thank you for this delicious recipe! I too couldn't bear to discard those yummy baked apples. I cut them into slices, like you'd snack on, and left them on the chops. Then I rinsed some raisins and craisins with water and ground cinnamon (just to make the cinnamon stick to the dried fruit) and sprinkled over the chops on a platter. I doubled this recipe for a dinner party, it was a hit!

on 1/31/2008 Thank you so much for a lovely recipe, it's quick, no hassle and so so easy! I have used different cuts of pork like neck and it works just as well. Just a hint: I took the apples and pureed them with a little water, cinnamon, rasins and dates. It made the most delicious sauce to pour over the pork and serve.

on 1/4/2008 Sounds good, but I was disappointed to hear we are to discard the apples.
