Some artists and bookmakers call these signatures, but we’re going to refer to them as small books made from single sheets of paper. We’ll focus on suggestions for altering later. This is a very quick and kid-friendly project.
A paper cutter will ensure straight cuts.
Fold the sheet of paper into quarters, and then cut them into four separate pieces.
Step2
They'll look similar to greeting cards.
Fold each piece in half, and then nest them inside each other.
Step3
The smallest size was used here.
Punch three holes along the crease of the paper.
Step4
A bright color was used here just for the sake of demonstration.
Thread the yarn through (from the inside to the outside) the top and bottom holes. Bring both ends through the center hole and tie a double knot. Trim the pieces.
Step5
Deckled edge scissors are also available.
Tear a deckled edge around the entire book for interest.
Tips & Warnings
Use wire, rather than cord or thread for extra durability.
Rather than deckling the edges, make imperfect folds for a more interesting edge.
Use lager or smaller paper depending on the size of the book you’re creating.
Don’t use thread that’s too thin or it won’t hold up during page turning and use.
Don’t tie the cording or wire too tight or it’ll cause tears in the holes.
Don’t tie the knot too loosely or it won’t hold up.
