For some people being Bi-polar is hard enough to manage, and the thought of trying to remember to take medications everyday can be frustrating.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you are already taking medications, always talk to your doctor before stopping them.

  2. Step 2

Know your moods: Mood chart to keep track of how you are feeling and what is currently going on in your life.

  3. Step 3

Once you know your moods you'll be able to know what sets you off and what helps to keep you calm.

  4. Step 4

Make a list of things that you enjoy doing to help distract yourself when you know you are about to have a change in mood. Examples of these are; reading, writing, watching a movie, exercising, walking, listening to music and drawing.

  5. Step 5

Let people know that you aren't on any medications anymore. (If you ever were on meds before.) Once you've done your mood charting for awhile you will be able to tell people when you are either going into a depressive state or a manic state so that they can be prepared to either help you or try to leave you alone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Not everyone can manage their bi-polar disorder without the use of medications. It all depends on how severe your depression or mania can get.
