Dog on a Grooming Table

Make life easier on yourself the next time you groom your dog. Use a Grooming table! If you don't have one, why spend more than you need to? A grooming table is comparatively easy to make and will cost you less than half the price if you make it yourself.

    Things You'll Need

    • a set of 2 fold up table legs
    • 3/4 inch plyboard cut to size
    • sandpaper
    • screws for screwing in the table legs
    • drill or screwdriver
    • 4 caster wheels (4 inch size)
    • screws for the caster wheels
    • rubber or vinyl mat or carpet runner (can use indoor/outdoor carpet)
    • glue
    • vinyl counter edging
    • small finishing nails
    • one large eye hook
    • rope or leash to pull the grooming table when folded up
      • 1

purchase a set of fold up table legs

      • 2

take the legs to the lumber yard and have them cut off 4 inches from each table leg if you have a large dog, otherwise leave them the way they are

      • 3

while at the lumber yard, buy a 3/4 inch piece of plywood, have it cut to a 48 inch long and 26 inch wide for a large dog or 24 wide by 32 long for a smaller dog

      • 4

sand the edges of the plywood

      • 5

screw the fold up table legs to one side of the plywood

      • 6

cut the vinyl carpet runner to fit the "top" of the table

      • 7

glue the vinyl to the table

      • 8

nail the counter edging around the edge with small nails spaced about every 6 inches

      • 9

screw the 4 inch caster wheels to each corner of the table on the underside

      • 10

screw the large eye hook into one of the ends at the edge of the table right through the counter edging to make a "pulling" hook

    Tips & Warnings

    • When you fold the table up and turn it top side up, it makes into a cart to stack your grooming equipment on and pull along to the grooming area at a dog show

    • If you bathe your dog on the table lay a towel over it to keep it from being too slippery for the dog

My redbone coonhound puppy is fast outgrowing the toy sized grooming table they have at handling class yet this is a bench shown breed so I may just have to make one of these to take to class with me. Thanks for the instructions!
