Are you excited to begin your first year of teaching Physical Education? Are you overwhelmed? Are you thinking no one told you how to teach physical education? Just follow these steps to really enjoy your first year of teaching.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Teaching 5-6 grade levels a day can be overwhelming. Be organized and prepared for each grade level. It is important to have a system so you know where all your information is.
Step2
Be flexible: schedules will change. Your gym is used for everything. So you need a back-up plan when your gym is used for assemblies, parties and performances. THIS WILL HAPPEN OFTEN!
Step3
Be a teamplayer: Since you work with all the students and teachers in the school, be willing to help out and volunteer
Step4
Be ready for the other duties. You are NEVER just a PE teacher. There are always other duties such as lunch room monitor, custodian, car rider duty, recess monitor, and before and after school monitor.
Step5
Remember Field Day. It is never too early to prepare for Field Day. Start early to get parents to volunteer for Track and Field Day.

Tips & Warnings

  • This is a fun and rewarding job.
  • Let's hope you came into this profession because you love kids and NOT for the money!
