This eHow will teach you the basics of writing a commercial spot that fits most advertisers on radio.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Advertiser
  • Creative Mind
Step1
Write your commercial to only One person. Make the target customer of the Advertiser your focus. Keep the commercial talking to only one Listener!
Step2
Open with a creative phrase, question or statement that will engage the radio listener to keep listening. Fill the body of the commercial with benefits for the LISTENER.
Step3
If the Advertiser wants people in their store, include a proximity of their address. If the Advertiser wants the phone to ring, be creative with the number and include it at least 3 times... near the beginning, and twice towards the end.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always bounce comedy off of at least 5-10 other people. If a majority laughs at it, go with it. If you have to explain it, rework it.
  • Writing to a group of people will cause a disconnect with the radio audience and failure of your ad to the Advertiser. Don't be afraid to say NO to an idea that the advertiser comes up with, that you know has failed in the past.
