The beauty of having a cedar chest lies within. The redolence can bring back memories form childhood. Appreciating a cedar chest is an easy task to engage in.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When you were young, did you ever wonder what a certain smell was when your mother or father opened a piece of furniture? The chances are good that they had opened a cedar chest. The aromatic flavor filled your nostrils with a pleasing smell. Today the same smell can still be found in cedar chests.

  2. Step 2

There are a few different uses for a cedar chest. They are primarily used for storage. Blankets, bed sheets, and quilts are just some of the examples that can be placed in a cedar chest. After you take out a blanket, lift it up to your nose and take a whiff. The smell of cedar is subtle, but its there. The smell of cedar declines with age. However, if you do not open the lid often to retrieve items, then the smell will last longer. Typically, the strong scent of cedar in cedar chests should last well over three to four years.

  3. Step 3

Additionally, a cedar chest makes a great decorative piece for your home. They can be located in most rooms of the house, albeit the principal room is the bedroom, especially at the foot of the bed. When a guest is going to spend the night, you can give them bed sheets and blankets, knowing the freshness will not be repugnant, but still have the slightest tinge of cedar.

  4. Step 4

Another example of what to place in your cedar chest could be heirlooms or photo albums. Anything that is sentimental to you can be put in there. On the other hand cedar chest can be used alternatively as coffee tables, end tables, and even additional seating. Some cedar chests come with cushions but you can fashion your own cushions or pillows to accentuate them.

  5. Step 5

Moreover, at one time a cedar chest was given to a girl that had reached adulthood. In the past adulthood meant the age of sixteen. Today the tradition is not as widespread as it once was but it still makes an exceptional gift despite what gender you are.
The cedar chest has been around for a long time. Its popularity suggests that it will continue to decorate homes and make clothes, blankets and bed sheets smell fresh.
