Step1
The differnt types of thermometers available on the market willgive you options and various means to taking abody temperature. Some of the choices ate digital, ear, and glass thermometers. these contain gallium, indium, and tin abd are less toxic to mercury when in contavt with the skin.
Step2
Wait 15 minutes after eating or drinking anything cold or hot and after smoking before using an oral thermometer to take the temperature since these activities will give inaccurate readings. Avoid hot baths.
Step3
If using a glass thermometer, hold it by the top end and by the bulb and shake it with a quick snap of the wrist until the colored dye is below 96 degree farenheit. Do this over a bed or couch to prevent the thermometer from breaking.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never throw broken mercury base glass thermometers into the trash. call the local poison control centre who will give you safe disposal tips.
