If you are like me then you love egg rolls. The crispy outside and the hearty warm filling, yum!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 pack of egg roll wrappers
  • 1 bag coleslaw
  • 1 lb. hot sausage
  • 1 TBS. Chinese 5 spice seasoning
  • 1 TBS. minced garlic
  • 1 TBS. Sesame Oil
  • 1 TBS. Vegetable Oil
  • soy sauce
  • 1 finely chopped green onion
  • 3 C Vegetable Oil for deep frying
  1. Step 1

Cook sausage fully in a skillet on the stove. Drain and set aside.

  2. Step 2

Put 1 TBS. Sesame oil and 1 TBS. vegetable oil in a pot on Med-High heat, add slaw, finely chopped green onion, spices, and minced garlic. Cook for 5 minutes and then add soy sauce to taste, I generally add 5-6 shakes.

  3. Step 3

Cook for an additional 3 minutes then add your drained cooked sausage. Cook another 3 minutes and remove from stove.

  4. Step 4

Empty pot of mixture into a strainer and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Lay 1 egg roll wrapper flat and put 1-2 TBS. of the cooked filling onto one corner.

  6. Step 6

Fold egg roll like an envelope and add a brush of egg white onto the open end and close shut.

  7. Step 7

Continue until you have used every egg roll wrapper.

  8. Step 8

Put 3 Cups Vegetable oil into a pot on High and allow to get hot. Check heated oil with a drip of water to see if the oil is ready.

  9. Step 9

Place wrapped egg roles into oil and cook until lightly browned.

  10. Step 10

Serve with dipping sauce if desired and enjoy!!

Tips & Warnings
  • Since there will be about 20 egg rolls, you can save some completed uncooked egg rolls in the freezer in a good freezer safe container.
  • The egg white helps the wrapper to stay shut during cooking.
  • Do not get burned by the oil!!!
