-
Step 1
Gather your supplies. Buy butcher or kraft paper at a craft shop. This is white paper that is sold in rolls. While there pick up any Things You'll Need listed about that you may not have. A bandana or other long fabric can be used for a blindfold. A cork board can also be purchased here. You'll need a hammer and nail to hang the cork board on your wall.
-
Step 2
Cut a piece of paper the size of your cork board. Place the paper on a hard surface, and use a pencil to draw the outline of a turkey. You can make him cartoonish, with a funny expression, or as real as you want. Once you like your turkey, outline it with black marker.
-
Step 3
Use the thumbtacks to attach your turkey to the cork board. Hang your cork board on the wall. You may want to remove a picture and use that nail to hang the cork board so that you don't have to make a new hole.
-
Step 4
Cut as many tail feathers as you'll need (number of children playing) out of the construction paper. Use different colors.
-
Step 5
Line up children who want to play. Make things easier on yourself by asking an older child to help out (teens, for example). Each child should be given a turkey feather with a piece of tape attached to it. When his or her turn comes, the child should put on the blindfold. Then, with the blindfold in place, turn the child around three times, and leave him or her facing the turkey. Have him or her walk forward and place the feather where the tail feathers should be.
-
Step 6
Have a supervising child or adult make sure the tape sticks correctly to the spot. Encourage the kids to keep playing until they've made a full, thick tail on the turkey. When you take the poster down, allow the kids to color the turkey with markers. You get to enjoy your Thanksgiving.
