  1. Step 1

Using The Racing Forum, pick one horse who you like for whatever reason. It could be the horse's name or the color of his mane, but pick one horse. A horse with worse odds will earn you more money, but is less likely to win. Many people study the horses' records on similar tracks in similar conditions before making their pick.

  2. Step 2

Choose a dollar amount to bet on the horse. The more you bet, the more you win if your horse wins. However if he loses, it means you are out more money!

  3. Step 3

Take your money and horse number to the teller window. Get ready to place your bet!

  4. Step 4

Tell the person behind the window your bet in this order: racetrack where your horse is racing(ex: Saratoga), dollar amount of your wager, type of bet( ex: to win), horse number. An example of how it will sound is, " Saratoga racetrack, $2.00 to win on the four horse.

  5. Step 5

Sit back, drink a beer, watch the race and cheer for your horse! If he happens to win, then you bring your ticket to the teller, hand it to him, and collect your cash! It is that easy! You will be betting exactas and trifectas in no time!
