How to Pack for the Honeymoon

It never fails. You’ve spent months planning for your romantic honeymoon to your dream destination. The suitcase is stuffed full, but sure enough, you forgot something. Nothing is more frustrating than forgetting a basic necessity when you are hundreds of miles from home. Consider these steps when planning for your next getaway.

1. Assess where you are going for your trip. As the Boy Scout motto says, “be prepared.” Be familiar with the culture, weather, activity options and accommodations of your destination location so you can plan accordingly.
2. Check the weather. As mentioned earlier, this is a big consideration. Watch the weather forecasts up until the last minute so you can pack appropriately. Prepare for weather changes as well. A light jacket should be packed when traveling to warmer climates, and likewise, take clothes that can be layered in case the weather warms up in normally cooler climates. Pack one pair of comfortable walking shoes no matter where you are going.
3. Consider the activities. Swimming, hiking, lounging, dining out, walking tours and sightseeing all require different clothing. Make sure you know what you will be doing so you can dress in the right gear.
4. Decide how you will pay for things along the way. It’s a good idea to have both cash and a credit card when you travel. Carry both on you and don’t put keep them in a suitcase or travel bag.
5. Bring your own fun. You never know what kind of weather will strike or when a flight will be delayed. Bring things to occupy time such as books, magazine, crossword puzzles or a journal.
6. Pack identification, such as your driver’s license and passport. Bring emergency contact names and phone numbers as well. It’s also a good idea to pack a small first aid kit that includes bandages, stomach medicine, cold and sinus medicine and antibacterial ointment.
7. Make a list of every item you intend to take. Cross each time off as you put it in the suitcase. This is a surefire way to bring everything you need.
