With so many different products on the market for cleaning dentures, it is easy to get confused. Denture cleaning is simple and takes no more time than the old routine of brushing and flossing.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Denture toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Denture Cleansing Tablets
  • Container
  1. Step 1

Brush your dentures with a denture toothbrush using any flavor of toothpaste that appeals to you. This removes any large particles of food or glue from the dentures.

  2. Step 2

Fill a container large enough to hold your dentures with very hot water. A specialty container for dentures can be purchased, but a highball glass or coffee cup can be used.

  3. Step 3

Drop a denture cleansing tablet into the water.

  4. Step 4

Sink the dentures into to effervescent water. Allow the dentures to soak until all the bubbles have disappeared or overnight.

  5. Step 5

Remove the dentures from the water and brush again with toothpaste before wearing.

Tips & Warnings
  • The denture cleaning tablets will help keep the teeth in your dentures shiny and white.
  • Since cavities are not a worry, any type of toothpaste can be used. Pick a flavor that you like.
  • Specialty denture brushes have harder brush bristles and are preferred for cleaning dentures. In a pinch, a regular hard toothbrush can be used, but will not clean as well.
  • Denture wearers often recommend soaking dentures in bleach, but dentists frown on this practice as bleach can erode or pit the tooth enamel or plates.
