The major problem in Basketball is the Free Throw shooting. I mean it is getting really bad and the basics are being ignored for some reason. So here is a few ways to keep you foul shot shooting above 80%.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time and a clear head.
  1. Step 1

When you are shooting a Foul shot. The most important thing to remember is where you place your feet, and how you use your legs. The first thing you want to do is clear your head and collect your self to shoot the ball. Then you would want to place your foot at the crown of the rim and keep it there. This will give you a direct lane to the middle of the rim.

  2. Step 2

Then you would want to place the second foot directly next to the strong foot or shooting side. You might want to open up your hips and start in the crouch position. So pretend like you are sitting down on a stool. This will open your hips and balance you for the shot. The next thing will be to get your hands on the crown of the ball. The crown of the ball is the point where they put the air in the ball. This is the softest point of the ball and you will get the best grip. When you are at the crown of the ball, make sure you spread your fingers on the ball to get the best release.

  3. Step 3

When you are ready to shot the ball, the thing to know is you should start with your legs and then your hips. Starting with your legs allows you to get power in you body that will make it easy to give the ball an ark and not flow flat. While you are in you motion and the ball is in you hands you should follow through with the leg motion, by ending up on the tips of your toes. You should also give a slight lean towards the basket. This will give the ball the ark you will need to carry the ball in to rim.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always clear your head on the shot. Always start the motion in the crouch position. That is like sitting down and getting up. This time when you are getting up make sure you follow through on the tips of your toes. Always keep your eyes or motion on the ball, and any slight movement will turn the ball away.
  • Don't shoot the shot standing straight up. Don't wonder around while shooting the ball. Make sure you stay with the ball as it flows to the rim. Have a focused mind that will block out everything.
