Things You'll Need:
- Vaccination Shots
- Research
-
Step 1
1. Check with your local health department. They will give you advice as to the vaccinations you will need before you even think about entering the country! This goes for any travel outside the USA. Do so months in advance. This is critical because there are some shots you'll need a "round" of. This means you will need to come back atleast 2 or 3 times, at about 3 or 4 week intervals to get the complete effect of the shots.
2. When choosing your destination... have in mind whether or not you want to be emersed in the true life and culture of the people, or just enjoy the Palm Trees and salt filled ocean air! -
Step 2
1. Do lots of research on the area in the Dominican you choose to visit! The Dominican Republic is a very diverse country! You could be at the beach full of tourists and then travel 15 miles to an isolated community!
2. Deciding on a resort.
By far all-inclusive packages are your best bet! You can stuff your faces with all the exotic food you want day and night! Also see what type of entertainment is offered! The Dominican Republic is a country that is always ALIVE, but at night it's glorious! There's music, dancing, shows especially for resort guests and everything you can imagine! See if the resort you have your eye on offers these types of entertainment. -
Step 3
1. Prepare your system
You will be eating foods you've never eaten before. If you don't prepare your body for this, you'll shock your system and could end up with a violent diarrhea that will last half your trip ... trust me you don't want to go there!
2. Vitamins and Enzymes
Take multi vitamins meant to boost your immune system and develop a healthy digestive system. Also, one of the best enzymes around are Papaya enzymes! You can get them at any health store. Start taking them 2 weeks before you leave for your trip. Take them before and after each meal and this will really decrease the odds you end up with a sick stomach. Then, continue this regimen right on through your vacation! It's a small step that will make a big difference! -
Step 4
1. Bang for your buck!
Check the exchange amount of the Dollar to the Dominican Peso. Do this just about a week or two before you leave. It won't really make sense to do it earlier because it changes regularly. That way you get the most for your money and it won't be to easy for anyone to rip you off! Some will try!
2. Pack Light
Only pack the basic necessities. Your clothing (not too many pairs) a Camera and a First Aid Kit and this will help you enjoy your trip 50% more! Remember you will have to carry that luggage around! Do make sure you bring an extra bag for the goodies and souvenirs you'll be bring back to remember your wonderful trip in the Dominican Republic! Enjoy!
