Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Ability to spell and write good grammar
-
Step 1
Keep your blog updated. Try to commit to one blog entry daily or every other day. If you can't do this, at least try to blog once a week. Yes, at times you may have an emergency that would keep you from this commitment, but this is something you can explain when you return, and I'm sure your blog readers will understand.
-
Step 2
Proofread your blog entries before making them live. Bad spelling and grammar will cause your blog readers to leave.
-
Step 3
When you can, add pictures to make your blog entry more appealing to your blog readers. There are many websites that will allow you to use their photos free, but you must credit them.
-
Step 4
Stay on topic. For example, if your blog is golf-related, don't blog about basketball. Your blog readers came to your blog to read about golf not basketball.
-
Step 5
Interact with your blog readers. If one of your readers leaves a comment, reply to their comment.
-
Step 6
Many bloggers now try to make money with their blogs by adding Adsense to their sidebars, and some even participate in pay per post. This is fine; just don't make your entire blog an advertising billboard by filling it with pay per post ads. Furthermore, if you do participate in pay per post type ads, keep the pay per post ads related to the topic your blogging about.
-
Step 7
Don't be rude to blog readers that leave comments with feedback or suggestions. If they're rude to you first, then it's understandable, but if they say it in a nice way, thank them for pointing the mistake out to you, and then try to correct it and keep it in mind for future blog post. After all, criticism only makes us better at what we do, right?
I hope my advice helps you keep your blog readers coming back for more instead of clicking-away from your blog forever. Happy blogging!
