Instructions

    • 1

Heat almost half-gallon milk in a container until it just starts to boil.

    • 2

Remove the entire container from the stove and leave the milk to cool down. Do not expedite the cooling process by refrigerator.

    • 3

Once the milk cools down to lukewarm temperature transfer it to another plastic or china container, which has a tightly fixing lid. Do not use a metal container, as it will give a bad taste to the yogurt. For convenience you may use the plastic container of the yogurt that you bought from the store. But make sure it is cleaned thoroughly.

    • 4

Place 2 tablespoon full of yogurt at the bottom of the container. It's important not to stir the milk. Secure the lid on the container and place it gently in a warm corner of the room.

    • 5

Surround the container with a woolen blanket to keep milk warm. Leave it undisturbed for 5-6 hours.

    • 6

Congratulations! You have 'home-made' yogurt ready to serve.

I think when you are culturing the yogurt, you could put the container into a picnic cooler and pack around it with towels or newspapers, then set it in the warm corner of the room to develop. What a nice, simple procedure! Thanks!
