Having a baby takes a toll on your body. Baby's also have strange sleeping patterns which lead to fatigue and stress on the new parents. The advise most commonly given to new mothers is, "sleep when the baby sleeps". This is actually great advise, but eventually the child will develop a sleeping pattern, then what? Here are some steps to enjoy baby's nap time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
You deserve to have some "me" time. So use nap time as a time for enjoyment. Instead of cleaning, doing laundry or other housework enjoy this time. Read a great book for at least part of the time.
Step2
If you are one of the blessed that has a napper, you can divide your time between things you enjoy and things you want to get done. You can fold your laundry while watching a movie. This gives you a chance to watch a movie without a child begging for attention!
Step3
You may also enjoy nap time if you take a nap! While some women (myself included) don't have time for a nap, maybe you do. If you have a quiet house, consider resting for a little while if it will help our spirit and stress level.
Step4
Another possibility to enjoy nap time would be to chat online with other mothers with similar situations and interests. I enjoy connecting with others that truly understand the role that we play in our homes. Men usually do not understand!
Step5
If you are crafty, nap time is the perfect opportunity to get some things done without a "helper". Just remember you will need time to clean up before the little one is up, or you may have a mess!
Step6
Whatever you love to do, take time to enjoy these quiet moments. You know that they are few in your busy homes, so enjoy them. Relax and do something for you! Whether it is just once or twice a week during nap time, enjoy the moment. Then you will be rejuvenated to enjoy the rest of your day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid housework at least one nap time a week and focus on something you love. It will help you be a better mother because you will be more relaxed.
  • Keep a list of things you would like to do, and start doing it!
  • Don't ever feel guilty for taking a few hours a week for yourself!
