MahJong Solitaire is a challenging game that combines elements of classic MahJong and Solitaire into a single online game. The idea is to select and remove pairs of identical chips from the board. The trick is that not every chip is visible or selectable, and if you pick the wrong combination, you could be left stranded. If you’re looking for a challenge, look no further.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step in MahJong Solitaire is to select your Layout. There are several different chip layouts available, some of which are harder than others. If you’re just starting out, look for the layout with the small stacks of chips in the upper right and lower left corners. This layout gives you small stacks of chips that are always accessible.

  2. Step 2

Learn what you can select. Though some of the chips on the board may be fully exposed, you may not always be able to select them. Some of the chips that are similar can also be put together. The Seasonal chips (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) can be paired with each other, as well as the Botanical chips (Bamboo, Plum, etc.)

  3. Step 3

Weigh your options carefully. While there may be multiple options to remove a single chip from the board, take your time and make sure it’s the best option before proceeding. Always give taller chip stacks higher priority. Revealing lower-tier chips is always better than clearing the last chip in a pile.

  4. Step 4

Reduce the stacks. Try and bring down taller stacks first while leaving a single layer of chips. It’s not always easy to do things this way, but it will make the end of the game a lot easier for you.

  5. Step 5

Take your time. While there is a time limit, most Layouts can be completed well before the Bonus counter reaches zero. Make every move count and don’t worry about maximizing your score to begin with. When you become a better player, then you can start worrying about getting the highest score possible and competing with other players online.

Tips & Warnings
  • The game can be paused by pressing the “End Game” button. When you’re ready to resume, hit “no.”
  • Download the game for more Layouts!
