To get housecleaning done the natural way as they did in the good old days. Try using lemon juice in your cleaning water. The lemon acts as a powerful bacteria fighter and it can prevent mold and mildew from building up before it even starts. I learned this way of cleaning from an elderly lady I knew and in place of lemon juice she suggested using salt or baking soda which is just as good for cleaning.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A bottle of lemon juice or freshly squeezed juice from fresh lemons.
  • A package of baking soda
  • A box of salt
  • A gallon of hot water
  • A bristle scrubbing brush
  • Some cleaning rags

Step1
First thing you will need is a bottle of lemon juice and you will need to add one cupful to a gallon of hot water or use 1/2 cup of baking soda or salt to same amount of water. Use one of these natural cleaners to clean just about anything in your home except wood furniture.
Step2
Next step, clean and rinse articles that need cleaning except wood furniture which requires special cleaners. You can use a scrubbing brush to remove any caked on mud or dust like in the old days or with a cleaning rag.
Step3
Make sure you have cleaned all areas before replacing furniture or objects of any kind. Like the old saying remember cleanliness is the next thing to godliness.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean surface throughly and rinse surface free of all dirt and dust to make everything spin and span. In the good old days a scrubbing brush and rag were used to remove dirt and mud for in the old days when there was no pavement. There were just gravel roads and the mud was tracked in on the wooden floors of match rough lumber which was sometimes painted. When the roads were dry the dust flew and everyone was kept busy dusting and cleaning.
  • Just in case you have senitive skin or you are allergic to lemon, baking soda or salt use rubber gloves to protect skin from chafing and infection.
