Making this soft cheese is so easy and fun! It is a great idea for holiday parties as your guests can feel free to indulge a little since it is fat-free! The only thing you will need to do is plan ahead as this takes at least 8 hours - preferably overnight to prepare. This is a great project for the kid who can follow simple directions!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 quart fat-free plain yogurt
  • 1 strainer
  • 2 layers cheesecloth or similar material
  • 1/2 tsp dill
  • 1 tsp finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Step1
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly in a mixing bowl.
Step2
Line a stainless steel strainer with two layers of cheese cloth.
Step3
Place the strainer over a large bowl - making sure the bottom of the strainer is high enough from the bottom of the bowl so that the accumulating fluid will not touch it.
Step4
Place the strainer and bowl into the refrigerator and let sit for 6 - 8 hours.
Step5
Remove the strainer from the bowl and empty the now firm cheese spread into a bowl. Stir briefly.
Step6
Transfer into a serving dish and serve with crackers. Your guests will appreciate the low calories!
