Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Curious Not Furious: When I was growing up I was a bit of a dork and I fervently listened to AM radio. A favorite radio personality of mine has this phrase whenever a grieved or perceived grieved calls up and says that something is just so horrifically wrong in their life and that they have been wronged and that there really is no justice in the world. Once the caller has violently, angrily spilled their entire community chest and has laid themselves barren over the phone lines, the doctor says to the caller’s unverified, speculative proof, “Be curious, not furious.” It is a pretty good mantra to live by and it is also a way to get information from unlikely or uncooperative sources.
Step2
Change the Topic: Rather than talking about this untouchable topic and attacking the source of the information, strike up a conversation, get them talking about themselves, get them talking about the weather, get them talking about politics (well, maybe not politics) but just something else that can lead you, in a roundabout manner to the information that you are looking for. This is a thing that just about every woman I have ever known intimately has logged in intrinsically.
Step3
Accept Nothing Less: If you are easily dismayed or distracted or disinterested then perhaps you should consider sending in someone else for this information. However if you are hard nosed, unrelenting, and clear in your demands then perhaps you will be able to get this needed information from said uncooperative sources. While it is not an easy thing to knowingly go into a hostile situation and dive in headfirst, there are rewards to getting this sought after info that go beyond just the information itself. So when it is time to finalize your place in the ranks, accept nothing less than absolute acquiescence.
