There are a couple of different reasons why you may be looking into mounting or anchoring your television. Some people need to anchor the TV in their home to ensure safety for their children so the device does not fall on them. Others are simply looking for a way to mount their television in a convenient space on the wall or the ceiling.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Screwdriver
  • Drill
  • Mounting or anchor kit
  • Fasteners
  • Anchors
  • Level

Step1
Start off by determining the area within your home where you would like to mount or anchor your television. For a plasma television, it is best to have a flat portion of your wall that is free from any angles. For a traditional television, it may be best to use a ceiling mount package, which can generally be found online or in your local hardware or electronics store.
Step2
Measure the area carefully and double check to see if you need to treat the area with special reinforcements for the mount or anchor.
Step3
Carefully, after measuring, put the hardware into place and then give a good solid tug or two to make sure that it does not move at all. This final tug can help to ensure you will not have a slip that can either damage or ruin your television after you went throughout the process of anchoring or mounting it into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may find that your particular television manufacturer has a kit designed for your specific television model. Using these kits can give you a much better, longer lasting mount or anchor.
  • Never assume that your wall or ceiling can hold the television that you are looking to anchor or mount. If there is ever any question, then it is best to find special drywall anchors to reinforce the mount, helping to distribute the weight and hinder any sort of overload or buckling.
