Step 1
Reggaetone is a feeling, a music filled with a great deal of pride in the Latino culture, and a rhythmic beat that may be addictive. There is a certain feeling in many of the songs of a Latin music dating back years ago. Songs like "Ella me llavanto" reach back and bring traditional sounds back and modernize the beat. Rakim y Ken Y's song, "Igual Que Ayer," is a beautiful ballad of love with an updated sound. Don Omar offers a beautiful song in "Aunque te fuiste."

Step 2
A nice way to explore the various sounds of Reggaetone is to listen to a CD like Reggaetone Hitmakers, featuring some of the best artists out there. Sample each song to see which style touches you. Some is soft and romantic. Other songs are nearly militaristic, as in Daddy Yankee's "El Cartel" which begins with a song called, "Jefe" which has a near sound of Janet Jackson's Rythym Nation.

Step 3
If you don't speak Spanish, you can still enjoy artists who record in English, like Akon. Some of his songs may test the limits of sexuality for some, but he has incredible songs that are soothing such as, "Mama Africa." But, if you want to learn Spanish, what better way than listening to enjoyable music with Spanish lyrics and reading the lyrics translated into English online. Sometimes, learning a language is most effective through music, because you have a sense of feeling the message in the tone and rythym.

Step 4
Exploring this form of music might expand your appreciation of other Latin musical selections. Most of all, sit back, close your eyes, listen and try to visualize what ever you feel. You may not enjoy every song, but the songs you do love will awaken something inside you that you won't forget.
