It seems there are crabapple trees everywhere! If you can find one that has not been sprayed with pesticides - then you have found a wonderful source for some great jelly among other things! This is a great Christmas gift idea as it is not a popular flavor in the stores - but quite delicious!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Crabapples
  • Sugar
  1. Step 1

Pour all your crabapples - stems and cores and peelings and all into a large stock pot. Pour in enough water to just cover the apples. Bring to a boil. Boil for about 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2

I like to crush the apples just slightly to let out more juice, then pour the whole batch into a strainer. Pour the juice into a cheesecloth and strain once again.

  3. Step 3

Now measure the strained juice and add the same amount of sugar. Bring to a boil - stirring well. Continue to boil until the juice sheets off the spoon.

  4. Step 4

Remove from heat and pour into attractive jelly jars. To seal for future use - cover the jars and immerse in a bath of water for 10 minutes. Remove and cool.

  5. Step 5
