Stained glass has long been used for enhancing the beauty of a room through colored light. Done originally as biblical scenes for churches to brighten moods and guide minds to spirituality, stained glass can now be found in hospitals, schools, offices, museums, restaurants, government institutions, and stores. Stained glass has also been integrated into nearly every aspect of the home, hobbies, and decoration. You can dress up rooms with stained glass windows, give stained glass lamps for wedding gifts, wear jewelry adorned with stained glass-type beads, and display attractive stained glass vases, tables, boxes, quilts, crystals, or hang ornaments on Christmas trees. Feng-Shui, translated in English as wind and water, is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging space and color to achieve a harmonious environment. Stained glass ties in perfectly with Feng-shui, and there are several stained glass artists who provide clients with feng-shui works of art. Jennifer Mitchell specializes in creating mobiles with feng-shui designs, Alex Shaw creates custom stained glass windows to include feng-shui designs, and Cory Judge makes all her work based on feng-shui ideology.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Suncatchers or mobiles
  • Crystals
  • Various plants
Step1
Hang stained glass suncatchers, prisms, or mobiles on rear entryways, to prevent chi from escaping out the door.
Step2
Plant, pot or use stained glass depicting baguas, lotus flowers, bamboo shoots, or bonsai trees at the front door as a way of creating a comforting environment from the moment people approach your home, thus encouraging good chi to enter.
Step3
Use symbols of prosperity and health while decorating your home through stained glass depictions of dragons, lions, tigers, turtles, and the rising sun.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read websites or books devoted to the elements of feng-shui, placement, and colors.
  • Avoid over-using one color or element in feng-shui.
