How to make beer

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large Pot (for boiling)
  • Large Water Bottle (3-5 gallons)- fermenting container
  • Flexible plastic tubing
  • Bottles
  • Funnel
  • Cooking thermometer
  • Strainer
  • 3 lbs dried malt extract
  • 8 oz crushed malt
  • 1 oz brewer hops
  • 1 package brewer's yeast
  • 3/8 cup sugar
  • Bottling Bucket
  • Airlock and Stopper
  1. Step 1

    Bring 3 gallons of water to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Step 2

    Add grains and steep for 30 minutes. You can place the grains inside a filter bag if you prefer.

    Remove Grains

  4. Step 4

    Bring the pot to a boil.

  5. Step 5

    Remove from heat and add malt extract.

  6. Step 6

    Place pot back on heat and bring to a boil.

  7. Step 7

    Add the hops. Boil for 1 hour, then remove from heat again and add the rest of the hops.

  8. Step 8

    Cool contents by placing the entire pot in an ice bath or cold flowing water (below 80 degrees).

  9. Step 9

    Take a funnel and strainer, and pour the cooled wort into your fermenting container.

  10. Step 10

    When the wort has come down to room temperature, pour the yeast directly into the fermenting container.

  11. Step 11

    Place the lid and airlock onto the fermenting container.

  12. Step 12

    Store the fermenting container in a cool dry place for approximately 10 days.

  13. Step 13

    Boil sugar into two cups of water.

  14. Step 14

    Mix sugar solution with fermented wort from the fermenting container, in a bottling bucket.

  15. Step 15

    Transfer solution to sanitized bottles by attaching flexible tubing to spigot on bottling bucket, and filling bottles from the bottom.

  16. Step 16

    Seal bottles.
