Wedding favors help guests remember the special day.

Wedding favors are small mementos that couples give to guests. The favors serve a dual purpose, acting as both a small thank you gift and a reminder for guests of the couple and the wedding day. Wedding favors can run the gamut from things like candy or cookies to personalized bottles of wine or candles. But, unique, personalized favors are often the ones that are most appreciated by wedding guests. Instructions

    • 1

Measure 2-inches across and 8-inches down on a piece of card stock or heavy paper, using your ruler. Mark the measurements, drawing lines or making long marks with a pencil. If the paper you are using is 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches, your length measurement can be 8 1/2 so there is less cutting.

    • 2

Cut along the measurement lines you drew previously, using scissors. Make the lines are completely straight. Use your ruler as a cutting guide if you have concerns about your ability to cut perfectly straight lines.

    • 3

Write the couple's name and the wedding date on the bookmark. The first line of text should go at the 4-inch mark and additional lines should go below. Printing out the text and attaching it to the bookmark with glue is another option.

    • 4

Glue a 1-1/2-inch by 2-1/2-inch photo of the couple to the top of the bookmark, 1 inch from the top edge.

    • 5

Stamp a decorative element to the bottom of the bookmark, below the couple's name and wedding date. Use a heart-shaped stamp or a stamp that is the first letter of the couple's married name. Center the stamp between the bottom of the bookmark and the writing. To place the stamp on the bookmark, push it in the ink pad and then firmly place it on the bookmark.

    • 6

Place the bookmark between two pieces of contact paper or run it through a home laminating machine. This will give the bookmark a protective coating, but is not necessary. If you choose to cover the bookmark, you will need to cut it out again after it has been sealed.

    • 7

Punch a hole in the center of the bookmark, 1/2 inch from the top edge, using a hole punch.

    • 8

Pull some of the ribbon off the spool and measure 8 inches. Cut the ribbon from the spool at the 8-inch mark.

    • 9

Push the ribbon through the hole at the top of the bookmark and center it so there is an equal amount on each side of the bookmark's hole.

    • 10

Tie a knot in the ribbon so it is secured to the bookmark.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose ribbon and ink colors that match the color scheme of your wedding.

  • Write a verse or phrase instead of the couple's name and wedding date, if that fits your theme better.

  • If you are making a mass quantity of the bookmarks, try an assembly line approach and have one person handle each step.

  • Allow yourself enough time to create the needed bookmarks. Do not expect to get it all done the night before the wedding.
