How to Make Diaper Stacker Sachets
If you want to store diapers in a something nicer-looking than the plastic bags in which they come, you can sew a simple sachet bag to hang on the end of a crib or from a doorknob.
Things You'll Need
- 2 yards material.of your choice
- 12-by-9-inch piece of cardboard
- Sewing machine.
- Thread
- Hanger
- Scissors
- Thread cutter
Instructions

1
Wash, dry and press the material to prevent it from fraying if you ever need to wash the diaper stacker.
-
2
Lay out your material on a large table or floor. Starting with longest side of the material, place the cardboard about three inches from the edge. While holding the cardboard in place, fold the end of the material over it. Using your finger, press the material at the fold to form a crease. The material should be folded over itself and about three inches longer than the cardboard on both sides.

-
3
Remove the cardboard and make sure the top and bottom of the fold meet the bottom layer of material. Cut off the excess material off and set it aside.
-
4
Fold the material so that the patterned sides are facing each other (wrong-side out). Sew the long open ends of the material lengthwise, leaving the smaller ends open. Turn the material right-side out.
-
5
Place the cardboard in an open end and push it through until both ends of the material meet evenly when folded together. Holding the cardboard in place, sew a straight line on both sides of the cardboard to hold it in place.
-
6
Take the remaining material, fold it in half lengthwise and cut it on the crease. Fold these panels wrong-side out and stitch them together 1/2 inch from the edge. Turn these pieces right-side out and press all pieces flat.
-
7
Lay the sewn material with the cardboard down. Take both smaller pieces and lay them next the top of one end of the longer piece so that you have a straight edge. Pin these pieces together so that the shorter ends meet the cardboard, then sew the edges of the small pieces to the larger piece, but not all the way around.
-
8
Use the buttonhole pressure foot on your sewing machine to make a very long buttonhole in the middle of the center panel. Determine where and how big the bag's opening should be (big enough for you to comfortably get diapers in and out). Once you have made this very long buttonhole, take a thread cutter and cut open the material in the center of the buttonhole. Continue to sew the side panels around the other end of the longest piece of material.
-
9
Fold the material a the top of the bag and stitch it around; you should only fold the material down about halfway Now that you have sewn a hem at the top of the bag, close the top end and stitch the top from one end to about one-half inch of the way to the center. Begin stitching from the other side, starting at the end and working your way in one-half inch toward the middle.
-
10
Turn your bag right-side out, place a hanger in through the opening at the top of the bag and fill it with diapers.

Tips & Warnings
Always leave 1/4 to 1/2 inch edges when sewing. Do not sew too close to the edge of the material or your project will fall apart. For a more durable finished project you can reinforce your stitching with an additional line of stitching. You can embellish your diaper stacker by adding lace or ribbon at the opening and at the top where the bag rests on the hanger.
