This is an article about the art and power of being a true friend even when your friends are not being a true friend to you. Many times your friend will repent of his evil ways and return to being a friend to you, if you will just keep the faith and be patient with him.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Make up your mind to be a friend no matter how flaky your friend is treating you.
Step2
Be patient and long-suffering with your friend. She may be under a lot of stress and has not shared it with you.
Step3
Talk to your friend with tenderness and care. It is very important to keep the communication lines open.
Step4
Cherish your friendship sincerely. Understand that no friendship is perfect. There will be challenging times when your friendship is tested. This is the only way you will know if your friendship is really a true one.
Step5
Maintain a listening ear even though your friend may be in a selfish mode. If your friend is also a true friend to you, she will eventually realize that your friendship is special to her and that you also deserve to be honored as you have honored her.
Step6
Give your friend space when he needs it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not become offended. Walking in Offense may cause you to make decisions that you may regret later.
  • Do not give up easily on your friendships. Have a mind to treat your friends as you would want to be treated when you're having an off season.
  • Of course there are times when some friendships will have run its course and it may be better that you depart, but never leave a friendship bitter even though the friendship may be over.

on 12/4/2007 The last point is a good one. I would always like to "part as friends" and I would suggest if you are continually being hurt it's time to seek a peaceful end.
