Learn a neat trick for getting a flying disc to sail through the air using your foot.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Disc
  1. Step 1

Start with your feet shoulder-width apart about 45 degrees from the direction that you are aiming, leading with your dominant leg (the one that will be kicking). Hold the disc at your waist, parallel to the ground in both hands.

  2. Step 2

Using both hands release the disc into the space just beyond your kicking foot. It is best to give the disc some clockwise pre-spin and tilt it so that the leading edge, the edge farthest from your body, is slightly above the trailing edge.

  3. Step 3

When the disc gets between 24 and 12 inches from the ground swing your leg at it in a pendulum-like style, striking the disc's trailing edge with the outside of your foot. The goal is both to induce forward momentum and to increase the rate of the clockwise spin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let the disc come to your foot. Do not go wildly after it.
  • Technique is more important than power.
  • A kicked disc is often difficult to control. Make sure you have enough open space around you so that you will not knock the disc into somebody else.
