Things You'll Need:
- you
- one hand
- a bit of concentration.
-
Step 1
This exercise is called 'The Crane'. It involves rubbing your belly clockwise and then anticlockwise, while imagining heat, or a fire, inside around the belly-button area.
-
Step 2
Lie down and place your right or left hand (whichever you use most) on your belly button. Breathe in deeply so you feel your hand moving up, and rub from the belly button out, in a clockwise direction. This is clockwise when you're looking at yourself from the front, so your hand moves from right to left, gradually moving out from the belly button and making larger and larger circles. Rub gently - it's the electricity from your hand doing most of the work!
-
Step 3
When you've reached the outer limits of your abdomen, move back inwards again anti-clockwise (i.e. reverse the rubbing procedure) until you're back at the belly button. Rest for a moment then rub again, and carry on for about 2 minutes.
-
Step 4
While rubbing gently, you're stimulating your digestive organs and helping start to break down the fat cells directly under your hand. Now, as you're rubbing, imagine a fire is starting to burn under your hand. Concentrate on feeling warmth and then see if you can feel that warmth increasing. As you feel warmth, the fat cells are being burned up - your metabolism is gradually increasing. It may just be imagining at first, but the chi in your body follows your thought! This is just as important as the rubbing.
-
Step 5
Enjoy the gentle massage and the feeling of heat or warmth. The more you enjoy it the more you'll do it, and the quicker your fat will melt away! It should be very relaxed and comforting. It will help your intestines function better - it has been credited with balancing all the digestive and eliminatory processes. And it costs nothing!
-
Step 6
Spend two mintues twice a day for the best results. Before getting up and just before sleeping are ideal - you will find this energising yet relaxing, perfect for both ends of the day! Your sleep will improve with regular practice.

on 7/29/2008 I have been trying to learn more about chi, and how to use it to aid our bodies with healing. I also have some baby belly fat, so I can't wait to give this method a try. Thank you for your post.
