One of the more difficult strikes to learn in Tae Kwon Do is the Reverse Full Twist Punch. While the movements aren't difficult, the nature of making it a reverse technique can become difficult to perform. If you break down the process, it can become much easier, as all it simply means is that you are throwing the punch from your back foot, instead of your front foot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Power
  • Square Hand Target
  1. Step 1

Assume a left front stance with right leg back. Both feet should be pointed towards the front, and the left leg should be bent so that you don't see your toes.

  2. Step 2

Chamber both of your hands at your belt in tight fists.

  3. Step 3

Bring your right fist up, bending your arm at your elbow. Your fist should be just below your shoulder.

  4. Step 4

Thrust your right fist out in front of you so that your arm is straight, but not locked, being sure to keep your left fist still chambered at your belt.

  5. Step 5

Turn your right fist over so that your knuckles are horizontal towards the end of your punch.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are punching a bag, person, or other target, draw your fist back to your belt or a guard position after your punch.
  • If you are performing the punch in a walking drill, bring your back foot up and out in a crescent step, and simply switch your hands. It's the best way to be sure that your punches remain reverse from your feet the entire time.
  • Be sure to keep both hands clenched in fists throughout.
