Step1
The first step is grab some piece of music from any rapper of your choice. I am 26 years old and I started rapping when I was 14. Grab some Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, or Outcast. Find any piece of rap music that has instrumental beats with no words, then get a stereo and listen to the music
Step2
Once the music is fresh in your mind become Dr. Seuss. Seriously, this is the easiest way to start rapping. Begin to rhyme together words at first. While listening to the music put together words that rhyme. Just start to repeat, street, weak, weep, complete, sheet, beat, heat. Then change a new stream of words, birds, kurds, nerds, hurds. Then try it with o', glows, shows, blows, clothes, knows, nose, throws. Then try i's, spies, eyes, tries, sighs, dies. The key is to become familiar with similar sounding words. Once you have a word that rhymes with other words you will begin to put together a story.
Step3
It is very important to practice. Rapping is an art and like anything doing this over an over in your spare time will allow you to get better at your craft. Listen to the music and put together things that rhyme. Don't worry if it doesn't make sense, just become familiar with different words that rhyme. After you are comfortable knowing what words rhyme then put together what you want to say.
Step4
All rappers have something to say. Rapping is personal and it should flow out of you. Once the beats and the words can come together you will be able to start and stop your rhythem. Listen for the beats, count them out if you have to and remember your rhyming words. Now find someone you are comfortable with and rap out loud.
Step5
Rapping out loud is possibly the hardest part of the whole process. Becoming so comfortable with your skills that you are able to put something together for a 4 or 5 minute song is a hard process, it takes time and practice and dedication. Change up songs and find different word flows that you are comfortable with so if you can't think of something during a free style session you can always fall back on something that rhymes. This will really help if you get stuck showing off and your mind goes blank, if the words rhyme the stories will flow.
Step6
That is it. Learn what words rhyme. Learn what your mind can handle, what kind of music can you flow too. Can you flow fast, is slower better. Either way rapping is all about practice and telling a story. Once you learn what words rhyme, what beats can be completed, and what you want to say, the words, the rhythm and the rhyming will begin to flow. Just practice, know what you want to say and go out and say them. This is a process, so if you feel embarrassed that is normal, but the more comfortable you get rapping in front of a crowd the better the sensation of free style rapping.
