These ten simple steps will strengthen your willpower to diet and increase your ability to maintain good lifetime eating habits.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The desire to lose weight and maintain good eating habits.
  1. Step 1

Go to your doctor or dietician and get a proper balanced diet plan that will include all the nutrients you require for your ideal weight, and will coincide with your personal health needs

  2. Step 2

Keep a daily list of every single thing that goes into your mouth, and include the calories for each

  3. Step 3

Measure everything accurately; do not guess the portions

  4. Step 4

Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water every day, and stay away from canned or frozen juices as they are exceptionally high in carbs and calories

  5. Step 5

Always begin your day eating one fresh fruit about ten minutes before breakfast. This puts your body into high metabolism and then balanced eating and exercise for the remainder of the day will keep it there.

  6. Step 6

ONLY eat when you have set yourself a formal place setting at your table. This alleviates unconscious snacks in between meals.

  7. Step 7

Eat 4-5 smaller meals a day rather than three big ones. This keeps your metabolism high because it drops considerably when you are hungry.

  8. Step 8

Give your hands something to do during television viewing such as knitting, crocheting or doodling until the habit of snacking is broken.

  9. Step 9

Have one cheat day a week that will prevent your body from adjusting to your new eating habits.

Tips & Warnings
  • Why fresh fruit before breakfast? Because fruit is not easily digested and forces your body into high metabolism which will stay high for the rest of the day if you eat and exercise accordingly.
  • Why a cheat day? Because your body adapts easily to change and it will begin storing fat again once it adapts to your new calorie count. So, once a week you break that "habit" and your body doesn't adapt and then getting back on it for the next week will enable it to keep burning fat at the low calorie level.
  • It is best to get the diet plan from your doctor rather than from a friend or from something you have read because you need the proper nutrients to suit your health conditions, if you have any, and for your profile for your preferred weight loss. Shortcuts never work. Well planned diets and permanent eating habits are always best to maintain a healthy body.
