How to place a slip or "choke" collar on a dog

Many people don't put a "choke" collar on correctly. If it is not put on the dog correctly then it can not do it's job and will remain tight around the dog's neck rather than loosening automatically so that it can be used as a "correction."

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• a nylon slip collar or a chain choke collar
• a dog

1. choke collar one hold the collar by one ring so that it is hanging straight down
2. choke collar two let the chain or nylon part of the collar drop down through the bottom ring making a "loop", as soon as it has "dropped through" then just pull on the loop that you have made. The collar will then form the actual collar that will slip over the dog's head.
3. choke collar three Hold the collar so that it forms the letter P as you are looking at it.
4. Now place the collar over the dog's head, from the front, putting his head through the letter "P" that you have made

Tips & Warnings

• Keep the collar LOOSE until your dog needs a correection. Then just give a quick sharp ":snap" to the collar and release
• This is a TRAINING COLLAR. Never leave it on without supervision!
