Are you doing a fantasy baseball draft using only the Junior Circuit’s players? Wading through all of those players can be daunting at times. Let’s try and prepare you for that last weekend in March when you draft your team.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Fantasy Baseball Magazines
  • Snacks
  • Highlighter
  1. Step 1

Pick up some fantasy baseball magazines for research.

  2. Step 2

Find an online list of all of the American League’s players and their stats from last year. Print out each position’s players so it’s easy to reference during the draft.

  3. Step 3

Highlight the players you want to target in the draft.

  4. Step 4

Bring snacks with you to the draft. It lasts a long time and you don’t want to rush through it because you’re hungry.

  5. Step 5

Draft offense heavy in the beginning.

  6. Step 6

Draft players that are multi-faceted, such as 30-30 players.

  7. Step 7

Draft one staff ace to make sure your team can compete in the pitching categories.

  8. Step 8

Draft middle relievers in the late rounds that have a chance to become closers and that can help in the strikeouts, ERA and WHIP.

  9. Step 9

Make a note of your league mates favorite teams so you can offer them well-targeted trades later in the year.

  10. Step 10

Have fun! Remember win or lose, the point is to enjoy yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid players that only give you one fantasy category.
  • Don't draft too many pitchers early on.
  • Don't draft too many players who are only eligible at the Utility spot.
  • Don't draft closers too high.
