Keep Fresh Content on Your Business Blog

A blog is a wonderful tool for promoting your business. With the popularity of blogs and feed readers, blogging provides an effective way to keep your business in the minds of customers and potential customers. Blog readers want frequent fresh content, so it is important to post on your business blog regularly.

Many business bloggers make the mistake of not posting often enough because they can’t think of anything to write about. But with a little creativity, you can keep your blog readers coming back for more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Include updates and commentary about things that are going on in your business. This will serve to keep your message alive while not sounding too much like advertising.

  2. Step 2

Keep an eye on the news. Hot news topics will not only give you something to write about, they also have the potential to bring added traffic to your blog. For best results, these types of topics should relate to your business or its mission in some fashion.

  3. Step 3

Write about things that happened on this day in history. You can find this information in many places on the web. See the Resources section for some links. Just remember to tie whatever you write about in to your business in some way.

  4. Step 4

Inject personality as much as possible. While you don’t want to turn your business blog into a personal journal, letting the real you shine through will allow you to bond with your readers. Be creative and utilize personal anecdotes that tie in with your products and services.

  5. Step 5

Join in on appropriate memes. These are ideas or questions that are originated on one blog and written about weekly by other bloggers who wish to participate. While some are not appropriate for a business blog, others could fit in nicely. If you can’t find one you want to use, make up your own.

  6. Step 6

Consider hiring contributors or having some posts ghostwritten. These are good options if you just don’t have time to blog regularly.

Tips & Warnings
  • You don’t have to post on a regular schedule. The important thing is to make at least a few new posts each week. Anything more than that is just icing on the cake, as long as it is relevant and interesting.
  • Unless your business is political by nature, it usually pays not to get too political on your blog. By doing so, you could drive away potential customers whose views are different from yours, or even end up with a flame war on your hands.
