Things You'll Need:
- An open mind
-
Step 1
Step 1. Join facebook. If you haven't already, it's time to go to http://www.facebook.com and set up a profile. I strongly suggest keeping business separated from pleasure. Make two profiles, one for your business, one of your friends.
-
Step 2
Step 2. Now that you've joined facebook, set up your profile. Use it to promote your business. Enter your url on your profile, along with what your business is about. Toot your horn a bit and say how great you are. Also be sure to say you are looking for friends and will add anyone. And a warning now, don't go crazy with the fun wall or applications. The fun wall can be dangerous because "images" can be put on your wall. Say "no" to applications till you learn more about them.
-
Step 3
Step 3. Next join groups that have a similar interest, or are your target market. That means if you're into marketing on facebook, you join business groups, or groups that would interested in your service.
-
Step 4
Step 4. Now create your own group. This is really the only place you can really advertise on facebook. It is highly forbidden to advertise on facebook, and you can get kicked off really fast. The only safe place according to facebook's contract is on a group you created yourself. Now that you have a group built, fill the content as much as possible about what you are advertising. This is your chance to give your company a voice and be a brand.
-
Step 5
6. Copy the url to your group and plaster it on all your group walls. So these are the business groups, the freelance groups, etc that you joined earlier. Write something like this on the wall, "looking for fellow facebook marketers, join here and share your story....." and paste the url directly to your group. This makes it easy for people to join and check your group out. This is how I went from 0 to 100 in a week in my group.
-
Step 6
7. Get lots of friends. Friends are how you network on facebook. Invite people to make you their friends. In your group start discussions and give people advice. Remember if you want to keep them in your group, you have to be sharing with them, or letting them learn something. People will begin to trust you and want to be your friend or start asking you for some sort of service.
