How to Rent a Car in Germany
Relying on rail and bus networks when traveling can be inconvenient, while using taxis all the time can be expensive. Renting a car allows you to travel around where you want and when you want. You can rent a car in Germany from a number of car rental companies at different locations. Tips & Warnings
You must be at least 18 to rent a car in Germany and have held your license for between one and three years depending on the car rental category. The car rental category might have a higher age limit depending on the type of car. Drivers ages 18 to 22 must purchase "Collision Damage Waiver" with their rental and drivers under 25 may incur a "young driver" surcharge.
You do not need an International Driving Permit to drive in Germany if your license is worded in English. However, if you want to visit neighboring countries then you will need to have one. These are available from motoring organizations.
