Having a bunch of friends over? Want to pick a good movie for family fun time? By reading this article you will learn how to discern between the good and the bad movies and how to pick a movie that will lead to a fun, enjoyable night.
Go for a recent movie. Don't make the mistake of picking a movie that everyone has already seen too many times. Pick a movie that had just came out and that you have heard good things about.
Step2
Consider the people that will be watching. What is the general age group? Will there be more men or women? Are there going to be kids, teens, or grown adults? Pick according to their interests. For example, male adults will probably want to see an action movie if there will be girls also, try getting an action movie with a little bit of love in it to satisfy both sexes.
Step3
Consider the story. The story is the most important aspect of a movie. A movie can have the best action, the best actors, and the best director, but if there is no solid story behind it, the movie itself will crumble apart. Read the story behind a few of your choices and narrow them down to the ones that sound interesting to you or that you think will sound interesting to your guests.
Step4
Check the ratings next. Sometimes the story sounds good but didn't play out exactly as it should've on the screen. Remember that if newspaper critics who are paid to have an opinion and properly educated in the subject of movies, didn't like it, than neither will you or any of your friends.
Step5
Read the reviews. Once you've narrowed it down to three star movies and above, move onto the reviews. Reviews are good because they tell you exactly what to expect. Don't limit yourself to just critic reviews; talk to other people like you who have seen the movies you selected.
Step6
Watch the trailer. Though sometimes trailers are oft deceiving, watching the trailer is a good way of learning the general idea of the movie.
Tips & Warnings
Warning! When checking reviews ignore the reviews on the actual movie itself. They only put the reviews on there that praise the movie to make it sound watchable.
