Celebrate “Country Music’s Biggest Night” by throwing a CMA Awards viewing party. I do this every year and let me say it is an evening of music, food, fun and friends!!!
Fun Invitations
The First thing you need to do is send out invitations to all your friends. With a little creativity and time, you can make your own printable invitations, even if you have no artistic skills. I use the Adobe website at http://createpdf.adobe.com to convert your file into a pdf file. Select the proper dimensions and print out a sample on some plain white paper just to make sure it is the right size. Make sure you have card stock to print out your invitations on. Insert text boxes with the words you want on your invitation. I like to play around with the fonts and text color. There are many sites that offer free clip art and pictures that you can use for your invitations, My favorite one is Cowboy Clip Art -- Country and Western Graphics, just download the pictures you want, insert them into your card at the desired location. A catchy poem or verse makes a nice touch as well. Be sure to save a copy of the finished card and print out a sample copy on plain paper to see what it will look like. If it looks good, then you can start personalizing each card and printing it out on card stock. Send them in the mail or hand deliverer.
Decorative Cookies
Next you need to create the right atmosphere. Use country-themed items to decorate your place such as pink and black bandannas, cowboy hats and cowboy-boot-shaped cookies. Play your favorite country CDs in the background as your guests arrive before the broadcast.
Great Food!
Now lets talk about the food. Serve traditional country foods like barbecue, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and pink lemonade.
Chocolate Trophy
The last thing needed is activities, and prizes. One thing I like to do is make ballots for my friends to fill out before the show begins. Then give prizes to those who guess the most winners!
