Ever get a bad scratch on a DVD and then have to go buy it again? Or the kids decided to play Frisbee with their favorite DVD? Maybe the dog ate it? Most of today’s computers come equipped with a DVD burner. Why not use it to save some money on replacements? Take your DVD out once, make a personal use copy of it, and you’re set! It’s much easier to make another copy if you haven’t broken the original.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A computer
  • DVD ROM drive with DVD burner capabilities
  • DVD Decrypter (Found free on the internet)
  • Recordable DVDs (If you plan to make a personal disc backup of your DVD)

Step1
Download DVD Decrypter. (A free program found on the internet that extracts DVDs onto your computer)
Step2
Install DVD Decrypter like any other program.
Step3
Insert the DVD you would like to backup into the computer.
Step4
Start up DVD Decrypter.
Step5
Just one click and the program does the rest. Just click the large button in the bottom left of the top window to start copying the DVD to your hard drive. (DVD Decrypter automatically creates a folder for the files to be copied to.)
Step6
Optional: Now you can go into the new folder and copy the information to a recordable DVD ROM. And you don’t have to worry about ruining the original!
Step7
