How to treat a dog's eye infection

Goopy eye infections on long haired breeds are fairly common. Here's how to treat them early without a visit to the vet.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• saline solution (contact lens re-wetting drops)
• Terramycin (available over the counter and online)
• Good vet as backup.

1. Flush dog's eye with saline a few times a day to remove gross "gunk" that builds up around eyes.

2. Warm compresses held over the eyes will help relieve irritation and loosen the junk built up in the fur around the dog's eyes.

3. 

   Apply terramycin opthalmic ointment, approximately 1/4" ribbon, several times a day.

4. Monitor dog closely. If for any reason the dog worsens, or doesn't improve after several days, take the dog to the vet.
