In England, snakebites are a popular combination of lager beer, apple cider and blackcurrant. Their deliciousness has led to rumors of illegality, but they are legal in some places. The student bar at the University of East Anglia, whose recipe is duplicated here, makes a mean Snakebite.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ½ pint Carling Beer
  • ½ pint of Strongbow Cider
  • Blackcurrant
  • 1 pint glass
  1. Step 1

Pour the Carling into the glass. To minimize head, pour at a 45 degree angle, and ease the beer in.

  2. Step 2

    When settled, add cider.

  3. Step 3

Add a dash of blackcurrant. For flair, pour in an ‘S’.

Tips & Warnings
  • In lieu of Carling, substitute a similar lager like Grolsch, Stella Artois, etc. Light beer (Coors Light, etc) will often lack the desired taste.
  • In lieu of cider, nearly any other cider will do. Avoid ‘White Lighting’, the cider exclusively sold in 3 liter soda bottles.
