Things You'll Need:
- Patience and that's it!
-
Step 1
Learn How to Replace your Regular Foods at the Grocery. Some of my favorite wheat replacements are: millet, quinoa, amaranth, and brown rice.
-
Step 2
Research Before You Eat Out. Look at menus online and plan ahead what you'll order. If you have to change restaurants due to a lack of options, better to do that now. In some cases, you can contact the manager to ensure a wheat-free meal will be prepared.
-
Step 3
Try to Have a Good Attitude: It's not easy to be on a wheat free diet, and such a diet presents unusual situations in public gatherings. A good attitude will help you through the rough spots.
-
Step 4
Find Others on a Wheat Free Diet: Knowing others who have the same challenges will help you stick to your diet. They may also be an excellent resource to learn about delicious substitutes. They can also let you know which don't taste good.
-
Step 5
Learn How to Survive Parties: If you don't want to stop socializing, you'll need to come up with solutions to handle parties, brunches and dinners. Eat beforehand if it's a party. If it's a sit down meal, then offer to bring a dish. Bring enough to share and enough for you to eat. You can also alert the host to your allergies and find out if they can accommodate that.
