Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Time
  1. Step 1

Have a family meeting to discuss the issue. Write down every pet you can think of.

  2. Step 2

When your list is complete, start a conversation. How much time you have to invest in your pet? Some pets are more self reliant then others. Another point to consider is money. Over the pets lifetime, how much money will you have to pay vet bills? Also consider room. Do you have the space for a horse? Eliminate accordingly.

  3. Step 3

With your list narrowed, Consider the pros and cons of each pet remaining. Do some research. Talk to pet owners who can tell you what its like to own that animal. This should help you further narrow your list. If you still have a long list, continue researching until you have only one.

  4. Step 4

Decide where you will get your pet from. Animal listed in the newspaper? Pound? Pet store?

  5. Step 5

After you have decided,go shopping and buy whatever equiptment you will need. Aquirium? Dog leash? Feeding dish?

  6. Step 6

Go get your pet, welcome him into your loving home, and enjoy all the love your pet brings to your family.
