How to Bake Toasted Bread Slices Also Known As Crostini

A simple toasted slice of bread that can be the beginning of gourmet dips, sauces and salads.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 20 slices, each about 1/2 inch thick, of day old french or italian bread
  • 4 Tbsp olive oil
  • preheated oven at 350F
  • baking sheet pan
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350F, place bread slices on the baking sheet.

  2. Step 2

    Brush each with olive oil.

  3. Step 3

    Bake until crisp and lightly golden, usually about 10 minutes. Serve with almost anything, for example dips, salads, sandwich condiments, or plain.

Tips & Warnings
  • Drop a crushed clove of garlic in the olive oil for extra flavor.
  • The possibilities are endless, spinach dips...tomato salads...sauteed mushrooms.
  • Always set a timer, I am imfamous for burning the first set of crostini.
  • Ovens are hot, use pot holders and other safety devices so you don't spend your party in the emergency room.
