Towel cakes make great center pieces.
Towel cakes make great center pieces.

Towel cakes can be a party favor or a center piece for any occasion be it a baby shower or a wedding shower. Not only is it a creative idea but the towels are still usable. No glue is used in the process...

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Towels (any color you like, body towel, hand towel, face cloth)
  • long straight decorative pins
  • ribbons
  • fake flowers
  • any additional accessories depending on the occasion.
  1. Step 1

Fold the towels in half, length wise. Proceed to roll the towel, tightly until you have a short roll. Make sure you make the roll tight (this picture shows a loose roll), otherwise you won't be able to stand the towel up straight.

  2. Step 2

Using the pins, in my case I bought pearl pins, secure the seam of the towel in place. Pearl pins will be seen along the seam in the back of the towel cake which will add some decoration to the cake, however you can use any pins you like as long as they are long.

  3. Step 3

Roll the hand towel and the face cloth in the same manner, securing the seams with the pins.

  4. Step 4

Stand the body towel swirl side down, then stand the hand towel, swirl side down on top of it. Do the same with the face cloth.

  5. Step 5

Taking the ribbon and fake flowers or any other accessories you have, decorate the cake anyway you like. I've found that sticking flowers stems in the seams of the cake work best. I've also used the ribbon by wrapping different colors to each towel. You can use your imagination here!

  6. Step 6

Towel cakes can be used for any occasion...

  7. Step 7

Here is a towel cake that was used as a house warming gift....
