Things You'll Need:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Camera
-
Step 1
Make at least a brief stop at the Eiffel Tower, one of the most famous landmarks in the world and obviously a fine way to take in a stunning view of the city. An elevator will take you up to a high observation tower, or you can take the stairs for a less-imposing but still impressive view. Two restaurants are available for those wanting to spend more time at this Parisian icon.
-
Step 2
The other truly must-see Paris attraction is the Louvre, easily one of the most impressive bastions of art on the planet. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for a possible line, but it’s worth it to take in the countless treasures you’ll encounter here, including the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and works by Michelangelo, Rafael, Botticelli and many others.
-
Step 3
While the city boasts an infinite wealth of amazing restaurants, a particular favorite for an unforgettable dining experience is Le Grand Vefour on the rue de Beaujolais. An elegant establishment dating back to the mid-18th Century, this sophisticated institution will impress you with its regal decor and sumptuous dishes.
-
Step 4
For a sublime day of shopping and cafe-hopping, stroll the legendary Champ-Elysees that runs between the Arch de Triomphe and the Concorde. The bustling tree-lined avenue is one of Europe’s most electrifying venues and provides some of the best people-watching anywhere.
-
Step 5
Lovers of architecture won’t want to miss the celebrated Notre Dame Cathedral, a French-Gothic wonder still serving as an active Catholic church to this day. Its amazing details, stained glass and sculptures--plus a distinctive ‘flying buttress’ and iconic western façade make it one of the most famous buildings in Europe.
-
Step 6
A casual night of drinking and socializing can be had by just about anyone at the Sous-Bock Tavern on rue Saint-Honore. Galvanized by an often youthful crowd (but frequented by people of all ages as well) this pub has an international feel, appealing but unpretentious ambience, and hundreds of brews to choose from.
-
Step 7
An escape to another world can be had at the Bois de Boulogne, a sprawling city park best explored on foot. You’ll encounter clandestine trails, lakes with islands, racetracks, a children’s area with zoo and small amusement park and even regal restaurants.
